This study aims to explore the Tamil legacy from the educational research perspective by mapping the existence of the multiple disciplines in higher education enjoyed by ancient Tamil ethnic groups. The primary goal of the study is to demonstrate the status of the learned, the value of education, the multidisciplinary academics, and the advancements that prevailed in those dates back to antiquity. A descriptive research methodology was adopted to investigate this study, utilizing secondary data from Tamil classical literature. The findings of the research highlight the survival of the following departments of higher education such as agriculture, architecture & and structural engineering, culinary art, forensic science, academia, marine technology, food processing technology, medical technology/physiology, physical education, bureaucrats and civil service – ambassadors. This article depicts the picturesque of a well-structured higher education system consisting of liberal arts and STEM, which flourished during the Sangam age.
