Editorial Policies
Authorship
An author is defined as an individual who has made substantial contributions to the development of a manuscript. Those listed as authors for an article in the KALANJIYAM - International Journal of Tamil Studies bear the responsibility of having meaningfully and distinctly contributed to the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of the research.
Before publication, each author must sign a declaration confirming their fulfillment of the authorship criteria. In cases where a group is listed, at least one individual's name must also be included.
Corresponding Authors
The Academic Research Journal of Science and Technology (ARJST) permits the designation of only one corresponding author per manuscript. This individual is solely accountable for all communications with the Journal and will handle all correspondence related to the publication process.
Changes in Authorship
If changes to the authorship of a manuscript or a published article are necessary, they will be executed in accordance with COPE guidelines. Only the corresponding author may request such changes, using the Changes in Authorship Form to notify the editor.
Submission of Manuscript
Authors are encouraged to review the “Author Guidelines” on the journal's website prior to submission. Manuscripts should adhere to the style and specifications outlined in these guidelines. All authors listed must meet the authorship criteria defined above, and must grant their approval for the final manuscript version before submission. Once submitted, it is assumed that all authors have read and consented to the manuscript's submission. The manuscript must include contact information for all authors, including their affiliations, email addresses, and phone numbers.
A Declaration of Conflicts of Interest must be included in the manuscript.
Conflicts of Interest
A conflict of interest arises when there is a discrepancy between an individual's private interests (competing interests) and their obligations in scientific and publishing activities, such that a reasonable observer might question whether the individual's actions or judgments were swayed by these competing interests (WAME). Authors must disclose any financial or relevant interests that might have influenced the writing of the manuscript.
Reviewers are also required to disclose any conflicts of interest and, if necessary, withdraw from reviewing any manuscript that presents a potential conflict. Editors should similarly refrain from considering manuscripts that may pose a conflict of interest; such manuscripts will be reassigned to other editors.
Duplicate Publication
When submitting a manuscript, authors must confirm that no similar work is currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Confidentiality
The Academic Research Journal of Science and Technology (ARJST) will not disclose submitted manuscripts to any external parties. Authors should treat all communications with the Journal—including interactions with Editors-in-Chief, Handling Editors, and reviewer reports—as confidential, unless explicit permission has been obtained to share that information.
Data Integrity and Plagiarism
All accepted manuscripts undergo a plagiarism check prior to publication. We utilize plagiarism detection tools such as iThenticate and Similarity Check, provided by CrossRef. If a manuscript is accepted, it will undergo a second screening to ensure no instances of plagiarism are present. We investigate all allegations of scientific misconduct in our published works, which encompasses plagiarism, inappropriate data handling, and duplicate publication. Depending on the findings, we may publish an erratum or corrigendum, or retract the paper. If necessary, article retractions will follow COPE retraction guidelines.
