In the contemporary era, often characterized as the age of science, society continues to grapple with deep-seated divisions based on caste, religion, language, and political power. These structures frequently subject marginalized individuals to states of suffering and exploitation. Many novelists utilize their literary works as a platform to highlight these societal maladies and foster public awareness.
This research paper analyzes D. Selvaraj’s acclaimed novel, Thool. The study explores the social issues depicted in the narrative, specifically focusing on the hardships faced by the Dalit community and the multifaceted oppression of women. Furthermore, it examines the lived experiences of those relegated to the lower strata of society and critiques the overarching dominance and authority exercised by the capitalist class.
