Abstract

Tamil literature boasts a deep historical background, with diverse literary genres evolving to meet the essential needs of society across different eras. These literatures serve as a medium to express human life experiences and inner emotions. Originating as unwritten oral traditions before being recorded on palm leaves, these genres have been heavily shaped by public preference, political landscapes, educational standards, foreign literary influences, and social transformations.

Among the profound experiences captured in literature, the blessing of children holds a paramount place. Children are viewed as a priceless treasure capable of making humans forget life's many sorrows; without them, even immense wealth and worldly status leave life feeling empty. Highlighting this indispensable value, the ancient poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar remarked thousands of years ago in Thirukkural (Couplet 61) that there is no greater blessing in life than obtaining knowledgeable children. Ultimately, children represent an unmatched wealth defined by their innocent and pure nature.
