சங்க இலக்கியப் புறநானூற்றில் வெளிப்படும் தலைமைத்துவப் பண்புகளும் இன்றைய கல்வித் தலைமைத்துவத்திற்கான அவற்றின் பொருத்தமும்: Leadership Qualities in the Sangam Text Purananuru and Their Relevance to Today's Educational Leadership

Abstract

This research article examines leadership qualities represented in Purananuru, a major work of Sangam literature, and considers their relevance to contemporary educational leadership. The study focuses on ethical responsibility, justice, public welfare, generosity, consultation, courage, and relationships between leaders and communities. A qualitative interpretive design is adopted, using purposively selected leadership-related Purananuru texts together with relevant scholarly literature. Thematic content analysis is used to identify recurring leadership themes and compare them with servant, transformational, and values-based educational leadership. The analysis suggests that Purananuru should not be transferred uncritically into modern institutions; however, its emphasis on fairness, service, responsibility, and collective welfare offers a culturally grounded perspective for reflecting on ethical leadership practice.
