Abstract

Literature serves not only as a historical record of a society but also as a mirror reflecting its ethical values. Literatures that are celebrated across eras never shrink into narrow circles; instead, they possess universal qualities that embrace the entire world. Tamil Sangam literature—specifically Purananuru—echoes today from the United Nations to various international stages precisely because it possesses such a global philosophical background.

Centering on Kaniyan Pungundranar’s famous line, "To us, all towns are our own, and everyone is our kin," this article extensively explores the ancient Tamils' concept of the "Global Citizen," alongside themes of humanity, equality, and brotherhood. Furthermore, it examines how the humanitarian principles emphasized in Thiruvalluvar’s Thirukkural and Seethalai Sathanar’s Manimekalai serve as a guide for modern world peace. The study also analyzes how these ideas have been championed on the international stage by leaders ranging from former President Abdul Kalam to current global figures.

By integrating the Soft Power of Sangam literature with global diplomacy and ethics-based governance, this research proposes solutions for the creation of an egalitarian society.
