Abstract

In Vedic astrology, although the shadow planet Rahu is generally classified as a malefic planet, it possesses the power to bestow unparalleled Rajayoga (princely fortune), authority, and foreign connections to the native through specific benefic placements and planetary combinations.

This paper analyzes the unique functions of Rahu, particularly the significance of the 3rd and 11th aspects emphasized in Pulippani Astrology, alongside the astrological rules that determine marriage in a foreign land. The connections of planets such as Rahu, Ketu, Venus, and the Moon with the 7th house (representing marriage), the 12th house (representing foreign lands), and the 9th house (the house of fortune/destiny) are discussed in detail.

Furthermore, based on the principles of traditional texts such as the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, and Jataka Parijata, this study extensively examines how these rules apply in practice through five sample horoscopes.
