Abstract

Poet Vanidasan extols the Tamil language as a life-giving force that animates the beauty reflected in painting, as well as an embodiment of the aesthetic elegance manifested in sculpture. He further equates Tamil with the valor deeply embedded in the hearts of warriors, thereby venerating Mother Tamil as a powerful and inspiring presence. The poet celebrates Tamil as a youthful and progressive feminine entity, proudly acknowledging her as the progenitor of eminent sages such as Thiruvalluvar and Ilangovadigal. Recognizing Tamil as one of the classical languages distinguished by its grammatical precision and literary richness, Vanidasan emphasizes the necessity of preserving it with the same care a mother extends to her child. He advocates safeguarding the language from external linguistic influences and promoting education through the medium of the mother tongue.
