Abstract

Yoga is an art that fosters balance and development across the physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. It is both a science of life and an art of living. The Thirumandiram outlines eight stages of Yoga: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. The objective of this article is to highlight how the practice of these yogic disciplines enables one to lead a healthy life—both physically and mentally—while upholding virtuous conduct.
