From Sangam Literature to Epic Literature: The Cultural Identity and Evolution of Tamils' Art of Painting – A Critical Study

Abstract

There are sixty-four traditional fine arts, and painting is one among them. Since ancient times, as a testament to the early stages of human development, people drew on rocks and the ground using stones and plant root extracts, depicting their favorite scenes from nature. There is no doubt that these later served as vital evidence and a foundational guide.

The objective of this essay is to explore how the art of painting is presented across various Tamil literary works as a reflection of Tamil cultural identity, how widely it has been depicted throughout literary history, and how past generations have cherished, preserved, and handed it down to us today."
